November saw the third of our Surface Metrology Training Schools take place. The School ran for three days and included an overview of measurement techniques, ISO standard filtration and processing of datasets as well as practical demonstrations on University owned instruments and the Polytec large field interferometer. The School also included a presentation on “The future of surface metrology” by Prof Dame Jane Jiang, the Renishaw/Royal Academy of Engineering Chair in Precision Metrology and world leading surface metrology expert.
Attendees came from both academia (Leeds, Mondragon and Bath), and industry and The High Value Manufacturing Catapult (AMRC, TWI and Renishaw) and their feedback was very positive:
“Trainers did well at explaining the subjects in a way that I found easy to understand.”
“All staff were very welcoming and accommodating.”
“Started with the basics and explained ideas thoroughly.”
We will be running our next Training School in May 2019. If you’d like more information or to join the mailing list please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
